With Argentina taking on Uruguay on Tuesday we will finally see two of the heavyweights of the Copa America come face to face. Argentina got off to a flying start in the tournament going 2-0 up against Paraguay within the first forty minutes, the Argies also dominated possession in the game but conceded two late goals to end up with a 2-2 tie. Lionel Messi, the best player on the planet right now was so disappointed following his side's collapse he refused to accept the man of the match award after the game. Messi is the captain of Argentina and the star man among a galaxy of stars. With Sergio Aguero looking fit and sharp Argentina have a proper out and out center forward who can finish at will, the Manchester City forward is coming into the tournament off his best Premier League campaign where he finished top scorer in the league and he is hungry to prove himself on the international stage. This is a seriously loaded team with no space in the starting eleven for Juventus star man and top scorer Carlos Tevez, Angel Di Maria's strong form is keeping Tevez out of the line up but I think Argentina may tweak the formation to give them an Aguero, Messi, Tevez top three tonight.
Uruguay come into this tournament as one of the outsiders for the competition even though they are the defending Champions. With a really solid defence marshalled by Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin and a strong midfield Uruguay will try to deny Argentina space to play. Edison Cavani is an excellent target man and has terrific acceleration and finishing ability. Uruguay are probably one of the most under rated teams in the competition but they are coming up against an unbeleivable side tonight. There will be no love lost between these two as well and as the most successful Copa America teams there is a fierce rivalry between the two. Most games are a little fiesty and a red card here certainly wouldnt be a surprise.
I like Argentina to win this one but I dont like the price, I think -140 is just a little two prohibitive and I'm going to take the overs instead. Uruguay do have a solid defence but I cant see anyone holding this Argentina team as they just have too much attacking talent. At the other end Argentina obviously have defensive frailties given the collapse against Paraguay and I think Cavani and Uruguay will take advantage of those weaknesses. The overs looks the value play here.
