Milan is welcoming Brescia in round 2 of Italian Serie A.
Milan has started this season sloppy. In their opening game of the season last week against Udinese, Milan had 60% of ball possession, 0 shots on goal, only 4 corner kicks, and 88% of correct passes and Milan wasn't able to score a goal and has lost this match 1-0. Milan has potential this season to play great soccer, and with a few more good players they are planning to sign I'm sure they will, but in this match against Udinese few weaknesses in Milan's game have come up. Even though Milan had the majority of possession, they lacked imagination in the midfield and it was incredibly hard for them to create a goal chance. Defensively, Milan was good, consistent and has won most of the long balls. Marco Giampaolo is the new head coach in Milan and I think he is the right choice for this team, but it will take another game or two for them to start playing the way they want to. Before this season has started, Milan's management has requested from UEFA not to play Europa League so they can focus on Serie A and bring their financial situation under control which means that Milan's main goal is Serie A and to try and take down Juventus who will be playing in 3 competitions.
Brescia is the new team in Serie A after they won Serie B last season in front of Lecce with 67 points and 69 scored goals. In their season opener against Cagliari, Brescia was solid with 42% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks and low 67% of correct passes, but Brescia defense was really good and Brescia has won 0-1. Before the season started, Brescia was able to sign Mario Balotelli, who will be a great addition to this team if he stays out of trouble and if he stays healthy. Eugenio Corini was signed in September last year as a head coach and since than Brescia was only moving forward and playing better and better and in the end they won Serie B and got qualified to Serie A. During his time in Brescia, Corini has lost only 5 games and there was no reason for club ownership to look for another coach. Ndoj, Gastaldello, Magnani, and Torregrossa are injured while Balotelli is suspended due to a red card. I don't think Brescia will be too high in the standings this season and will be close to the relegation zone, but with the team they have, I think that Brescia will stay safe and keep their Serie A status next season as well.
Brescia hasn't won any of their last 6 games against Milan, while Milan hasn't lost any of their last 10 home matches against Brescia. Milan is the better team here, and despite dropping points in the season opener, I see Milan winning here in front of their fans.
