AC Milan have had a huge boost as the Italian giants managed to sign Argentine superstar striker, Gonzalo Higuain. This was a massive transfer that saw last season's captain, Leonardo Bonucci return to Juventus. This weekend, Gonzalo Higuain’s new teammates will be in action in a pre-season friendly as they take on FC Barcelona in the USA.
FC Barcelona have been quite poor in their preseason as they lost their last game to AS Roma. It is important to note that the top players like Messi and Suarez are not playing but that should not impact our thinking for this clash since the same squad is the same as that which lost AS Roma. That being said, the likes of Rafina and Malcolm were quite good and will be keen to continue their good form so they are taken seriously once the regular season starts. FC Barcelona have quite a settled side and these squad players will need to perform well if they want to play during the regular season.
On the other hand, AC Milan will play most of their first team. The likes of Suso, Borini, and Kessie all played against Tottenham in the last game and will likely play again. It is quite worrying that AC Milan’s first team is losing to second teams of many of the clubs and the manager will be desperate to improve. There are lots of international and boardroom issues at AC Milan and a good season will be essential for the club.
As far as this game is concerned, I think that AC Milan will win. FC Barcelona are playing a very weakened side and I think it won’t be enough to get a result against a full strength AC Milan outfit. In addition to all that, I am expecting this to be a very high scoring game. Both teams are representing their international brand and will want to impress the crowd with some action. These games are commercial events so we should expect plenty of balls in the back of the net so the crowd stays happy.
