Milan is welcoming Frosinone in round 38 of Italian Serie A.
Milan is coming into this match in a solid form and with 2 wins in their last 2 games and a glimmer of hope of qualifying for Champions League next season. Milan is in a desperate need of a victory here to keep themselves in a race for that final Champions League spot, but for that to happen Atalanta has to lose against Juventus. In their last game against Fiorentina, Milan had a decent game with 51% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks and low 80% of correct passes and was able to win this game 0-1. Piatek is Milan’s top goal scorer with 8 goals followed by Suso who has 6 goals and 10 assists. Bonaventura, Strinic, Caldara, Paqueta, and Calabria are all injured and will not be playing in this match. Milan has been playing good soccer for most of the season and has scored 50 goals in 36 games. There will be quite a few changes in Milan after the season ends, starting with coach Gattuso who has already announced that he will be leaving the club, which might be a good thing for Milan because their game is not worthy of higher position on the standings or that last Champions League spot because Atalanta is playing better and more attractive soccer.
Frosinone is one of the worst teams in Serie A and are holding 19th place in the standings with only 24 points and 67 conceded goals and will get relegated to Serie B. Frosinone has won only 1 of their last 13 games and is playing awful soccer on both ends of the field. In their last game against Udinese, Frosinone was actually a better team with 53% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 14 corner kicks and for them, high 81% of correct passes but Frosinone’s defense was leaking all over the field and they lost 1-3. Ciano is Frosinone’s top goal scorer with 7 goals followed by Pinamonti and Ciofani who have 5 goals. Gori and Paganini are only two injured players and will be playing in this match. Coach Baroni had only one task before the season started and that was to keep Frosinone’s Serie A status but he is not doing a good job and will get fired when the season is over. Frosinone just doesn’t have enough quality to compete with clubs that have more Serie A experience and the best thing for them is to get relegated to Serie B and regroup and try again in two years.
There are 2 more games until the end of the Serie A season and Milan has to win both games if they want get to that Champions League spot. In the first game between Milan and Frosinone, there were no goals and game ended in a 0-0 draw but there is more at stake here and think that Milan gets the job done.
