Scotland and Argentina meet Wednesday in FIFA Women's World Cup at Parc des Princes.

Scotland has come up short in two straight 2-1 losses this world cup, meaning there’s nothing on the line here but pride with a chance to advance to the knockout stages eliminated. However, Scotland has shown fight in both matches, scoring a goal late in both meetings despite being down two goals. There’s many teams in this tournament that wave the white flag with the match out of reach and they get nothing positive from the result. This is also the first world cup appearance for Scotland, so this tournament was a success before it began. Based on what we’ve seen through two matches, we know Scotland is not going to give up and would love nothing more than two bring home its first world cup victory against a respectable opponent.

Argentina enters this match with still a chance to advance to the knockout stages for the first time, but there’s been little positives through two matches. Argentina has yet to find the back of the net this tournament and has a combined three shots on goal through two matches. Yes, Japan and England aren’t the easiest first two opponents, but Albicelestes has been dominated in ball possession and hasn’t been able to do much of anything on the offensive side. Argentina has now been shutout in six of its last 10 matches overall and at some point will have to force the issue and try something different if these results are going to change.

There’s no match history between these two teams.

These prices are interesting given that Argentina has more to play for in terms of the tournament. I get Scotland will be up for this match due to wanting to make history and leave its first world cup with a victory, but it’s Argentina that has more to play for in terms of advancing. With that said, I’m taking the under in a match between two teams that have been hard to watch offensively. The competition hasn’t been easy, but we’ve seen little promise in either match from sides that makes me believe this is going to be a high scoring contest.

Give me the under.
