Probably the game of the round will see Barcelona travel to the Vincent Cauldron Stadium with a slender 2-1 lead, can Atletico Madrid turn things around in the home tie or will Barcelona make to yet another semi final?
Atletico Madrid will be looking for their first win over a Luis Enrique coached Barcelona as Enrique has a perfect 7-0 record against the capital side. Never would there be a better time for Atletico to end that streak though than on Wednesday. If Atletico can keep this game tight and hit Barcelona on the counter then they could turn over the European Champions. Antonio Greizmann and Koke will need to be at their best, especially Greizmann as he will carry the fight to Barcelona's back four. In the first leg Atletico were comfortably the best side until Fernando Torres sending off. That moment of madness ruined the game as a spectacle but Torres goal could yet be the decisive moment in the tie. A 1-0 win for Atletico will be enough to see them through and I expect Diego Simeone to have a tactical plan in place to exploit Barcelona's weakness at the back.
With Barcelona one win from four is considered a slump and the Catalan side are currently in one. Losses to Real Madrid and REal Sociedad along with a draw at Villareal has left people wondering if this fantastic side could possibly collapse. Barcelona were not impressive in the first leg against Atletico. If Atletico had a full compliment of players I have to say I think that Atletico could easily have come away from the Nou Camp with a win. But any team with Neymar, Suarez and Messi are always going to be dangerous and there is no doubting the amount of talent in this Barcelona side. Rakitic, Turan and Iniesta are the key midfield pieces as they look to hold the ball and thread the ball through to the lethal front three. But at the moment Barcelona look tired. This team has pretty much been playing week in week out for 2 years. Could this be a spot to go against the best team in Europe? Possibly.
Atletico have lost just one of their last seventeen Champions League home games, Atletico have won nine of their last sixteen in all compettions and Atletico are 11-3-1 in their last fifteen home games.
Barcelona are 3-2-1 in their last six away Champions League games, Barcelona are 2-1-2 in their last five overall and Barcelona have not scored in just one of their last twenty five overall.
The easy option here is to take Atletico Madrid on the handicap at worst I think we finish with a push but instead I'm going all in on Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone pulling off one of the shocks of the competition and getting a win here. It might not be enough to get through as I feel this one could be settled in extra time but I think Atletico will get the win here at a huge price.
