Atletico Madrid is hosting Valladolid in round 35 of Spanish LaLiga.

Atletico is playing great soccer at the moment and has won 5 of their last 6 games and has conceded only 3 goals in that period. Atletico is holding 2nd place in LaLiga standings and still has theoretical chances in getting to the top, but for that to happen Barcelona would have to lose rest of their matches. In their last game against Valencia, Atletico had 56% ball possession, 6 shots on goal and 86% of correct passes and was able to win 3-2. Atletico’s game style is not attractive to watch and they are playing defensively and focusing on fast counter-attacks and that is the main reason why Atletico Madrid hasn’t won any major trophies. Atletico’s best player and top goal scorer is Griezman with 15 goals and is expected to lead Atletico once more in this match. Jose Gimenez and Lucas Hernandez are injured while Diego Costa is suspended and will not be playing. Atletico Madrid is the best defensive team in Spain and has conceded only 23 goals which is amazing considering which teams are competing in LaLiga. Atletico Madrid is still in danger of losing second place because Real Madrid is only 6 points behind and for that reason coach Simeone will need to prepare his team the best he can for this game.

Valladolid is one of the worst teams in LaLiga and is on the 17th place in the standings with 35 points, only 1 point above the relegation zone. In their last game against Girona, Valladolid has shown some signs of life and have had 50% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal and 77% of correct passes and have won this game 1-0. Girona is Valladolid’s main competitor for the last spot outside the relegation zone, so this win was priceless for Valladolid. Enes is Valladolid’s top goal scorer with 5 goals while Plano added 4 assists. Luismi, Hervias, Cop, and Verde are injured and will not be playing in this match. Valladolid is awful on both ends of the field and has scored only 29 goals while conceding 47 goals. Coach Sergio was signed in April of 2018 and will probably get fired at the end of the season because Valladolid is really bad this season and there are no signs of improvement on the horizon. Valladolid’s only goal is to keep their LaLiga status and do a complete team rebuild for next season and hope for brighter days.

Atletico has won their last 7 games against Valladolid and has scored 20 goals in those 7 games while conceding only 4 goals. Atletico is a much better team here and while Valladolid needs this win, I don’t see it happening.

Atlético Madrid: -1.5 (+115)

Being from Croatia I was raised with soccer all around me and I loved to watch and play soccer ever since i was little kid, especially after Croatia won third place in 1998 World Cup in France. I watch and follow soccer on a daily basis and to get the oppurtunity to write about it is amazing.
