Azerbaijan is welcoming Croatia in round 6 of Group E Euro Cup Qualifications.
Azerbaijan is one of the worst national teams in Europe who hasn't won any of their last 6 games. In their last match against Wales, Azerbaijan was the worse team with only 36% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 0 corner kicks, and only 72% of correct passes. Despite all of that, Azerbaijan was hanging in the game with a positive score of 1-1 until 84th minute when Gareth Bale scored a winning goal for Wales. Azerbaijan is the last team in Group E with 0 points, only 4 scored goals and 12 conceded goals in 4 matches. Renat Dadasov who is playing for Wolverhampton in EPL was Azerbaijan's best player in these 4 games with an average score of 6.90. Mahir Emreli and Sheydaev have each scored 2 goals in these qualifications. Nikola Jurcevic has been signed as a head coach in February of this year and is yet to win a game as Azerbaijan's head coach but slow progress is visible and I think that this team is going to the right direction. There are no injured or suspended players in Azerbaijan's squad. Like I said, progress is slow but its visible, reason for that is that Azerbaijan's soccer association has just started investing more in their youth soccer schools and scouting which is the right move but it will take some time before those young players become ready for Azerbaijan's national team.
Croatia is the best and strongest team in this Group E and I think they will end up in the top and get qualified for Euro Cup next year. In their last game against Slovakia where victory was and imperative, Croatia was fantastic with 52% of ball possession, 9 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks and 88% of correct passes. This game has reminded me of Croatian team from the World Cup last year where Croatia ended up second and with goals from Vlasic, Perisic, Petkovic, and Lovren, Croatia has shown us that once again they will be the Dark Horse of next year's Euro Cup. Kovacic and Kramaric are injured while Rakitc has declined this call up because of personal reasons. Coach Dalic was signed in October of 2017. and is doing an excellent job on the Croatian national team. Ivan Perisic has been Croatia's best player in these qualifications with 2 goals and an average rating of 7.45. Perisic is getting into the great form after his move to Bayern Munich this summer where he will get plenty of playtime and will be playing under another Croatian coach, Niko Kovac. Croatia has scored 9 goals in 4 games and is at the moment in the 2nd place in the standings behind Hungary with the same number of points. Croatia is the best team with more quality on every position than other teams in this group and I believe that Croatia will stay undefeated until the end of these qualifications.
In the first match between Azerbaijan and Croatia in these qualifications in Zagreb, Croatia has won 2-1 but it wasn't a game to remember. In this match I expect more from Croatia because they are in better for on the defensive end, the goalkeeper is doing a fantastic job between the posts and more importantly, Croatia is playing great soccer on the offensive end.
