Athletico Madrid topped their group and as a result of that they have the pleasure of playing the second leg of their tie at home. As a result they will be travelling to Germany this week as the Spanish Giants take on Bayern Leverkusen in a game that most Athletico Madrid fans will hope is an easy win for the side.
Athletico are not doing as well as they would have liked this season with the hopes of La Liga all but gone. That being said, the dream of the Champions League still exists and with the likes of Diego Godin and Antoine Griezeman in the side, it is still a real chance. They have a pretty easy round of 16 draw and although a win here is not essential, they would like to get an advantage since leaving too much to do in the second leg can often be problematic. I am expecting a solid performance from Diego Simione and his team and I think they have what it takes to win the game quite comfortably.
Bayern Leverkusen will look to cause an upset and if they are to do so, they have to win at home. That being said, I do not see that happening since they German side have not been playing very good football lately and they are up against once of the most organized teams in football that also have some pretty big match winners and superstars. The home crowd in their best chance but I do not think it is enough to overcome the differences in quality so I expect them to lose.
Betting on the overall result is by far the way to go. We are getting a good enough price on Athletico Madrid to win and I would say that any sized wager on this is good enough. Along with that, the under 2.5 goals is also a good bet since both sides like to play defensively.
