Bayern Munich is welcoming Koln in round 5 of German Bundesliga.
Bayern is playing the best soccer in Germany overall. With 12 conceded goals in the first 4 matches of Bundesliga, Bayern is the best offensive team in Germany and it doesn't look like they are planning on stopping anytime soon. In their last game against Leipzig, Bayern was a much better team and was playing fantastic soccer. In that game, Bayern had 68% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 88% of correct passes. Bayern took the lead by an early goal from Lewandowski but conceded a goal from a penalty in the last minute of the first half. I wrote about this match last week and decided to take goals in the first half which brought us a nice plus money. Lewandowski has scored 7 goals for Bayern so far, while Muller added 3 assists. Goretzka is the only injured player in Bayern's roster who will miss both Champions League match and Bundesliga match. Bayern has many weapons on the offensive end in Lewandowski, Coutinho, Perisic, Muller, Thiago, Coman and a few more excellent plyers, but their problem, for now, is defensive consistency in Hernandez, Sule, and Pavard. This is something that coach Kovac is constantly working on improving and it's only a matter of time before Bayern's defense gets on top of the things. Bayern has a Champions League match against Crvena Zvezda before this game and if everyone stays healthy after and Bayern gets a good result, this game against Koln should be a field trip for Bayern.
Koln is one of those teams that will be fighting to stay outside the relegation zone because they simply don't have enough quality to compete for higher spots in the standings. Koln has won only 1 of their 4 Bundesliga matches against Freiburg away from home. In their last match against M'gladbach, Koln wasn't bad with 51% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and only 74% of correct passes. Koln conceded an early goal in 14th minute and the result hasn't changed. Koln has scored 4 goals while conceding 7 goals in first 4 matches. Skhiri, Modeste, Drexler, and Terodde each scored 1 goal. Clemens and Jakobs are both injured and will not be in the lineup for this game. Koln doesn't have a specific game style mostly because they lack quality in each part of the team, and even though they can surprise any team, that won't happen that often. Koln is holding 15th place in the standings at the moment with 3 points but two out of three teams that are behind them and teams with more quality and better team chemistry. Koln is the newcomer to Bundesliga after winning Bundesliga 2 last season with 63 points, 84 scored goals and 47 conceded goals. Bundesliga 2 is a really good and fun competition, but the quality of soccer and teams is quite a bit lower than Bundesliga and for that reason, I think it will be hard for Koln to keep their Bundesliga status.
Koln was able to surprise Bayern a few time but I don't see it happening here. Bayern is a much better team in every aspect and even with Champions League match 3 days before this game Bayern is a huge favorite because of their depth.
