Belarus is hosting Germany in round 3 of Euro Cup Qualifications.
Belarus is a solid team overall but their current form is not good. In their last two games, Belarus has conceded 6 goals while scoring only 1 goal. In their last game against Northern Ireland, Belarus had 51% of ball possession, but only 3 shots on goal, and only 74% of correct passes and has lost this game 2-1. Belarus is in a group with Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, and Northern Ireland and their chances of qualifying to Euro Cup are zero to none. The average age of this Belarus team is almost 30 years old and the main reason for that is very bad youth players development strategy and for that reason, Belarus will not move from this spot in years to come. It’s hard to say who is the best player in the Belarus team but if I had to pick someone it would be Maksim Volodjko who is their best defender. Before these two loses, Belarus was on a 6-game streak without a loss, but those were matches against San Marino, Luxembourg, and Moldova who are at the very bottom of European soccer. Igor Kriushenko was hired back in March of 2017., and if the results and form don’t improve soon, Kriushenko will most likely be fired before these qualifications end.
Germany is one of the top teams in Europe and the world, a team with young superstar players and few older and experienced players to balance things out. Germany is ranked as 13th in FIFA standings mostly because of bad World Cup last year, but Germany’s form and chemistry are improving and they are getting back on track. In their last game against the Netherlands, Germany was the worse team with 47% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, only 1 corner kick, and 84% of correct passes but was able to win 2-3 thanks to a 9th-minute goal from Nico Shulz. Coach Joachim Low has been the head coach since 2006, and there were rumors that he will be leaving German national team, but not only that those rumors weren’t true, Low signed a new contract and will stay a head coach until 2022. It hard to say which part of the German team is better since the whole squad is filled with superstars like Sane, Werner, Reus, Gundogan, Draxler, Kimmich, Tah and even their goalkeeper positions are filled with three top 10 goalkeepers in the world. Germany is a young team with amazing potential and will only get better once they get more experienced with time. Germany is one of the top favorites to win the Euro Cup next year, and deservedly so because they are playing fast, fun and exciting soccer with lots of created chances and scored goals, and yet they are getting really good on the defensive end.
Belarus is just a bad team, with a bad game style and despite playing at home, I’m not giving Belarus any chances in this match. I expect a dominant and aggressive German team who will have high ball possession and lots of shots on goal.
