What an intriguing game we have here on Wednesday night as Bochum high fliers in Germany's second division face reigning Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich in what promises to be a really good encounter. Bochum spent the winter break beating Bundesliga sides in challenge matches with wins over Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mochengladbach and Hertha, they now try to do something that only one team in the league has been able to do this season and that is beat Bayern Munich. Bochum will look to top scorer Terodde to carry the goalscoring threat with the experienced Hoogland and young Turkish star Bulut providing some creativity and steel from midfield. This Bochum team is unbeaten at home at the ReirpowerStadion since losing to RP Leipzig in October.
Bayern Munich are obviously the strongest team in Germany, Champions and winners of the DFB Pokal last season this is a team of extreme talent and depth. Robben, Muller, Lewandowski will all look to get goals here but with a massive Champions League game against Juventus just around the corner it would be no surprise if Pep Guardiola rested his first eleven tonight and at the weekend. Bayern have two squads though given their strength in dpeth and the players coming in will be all full internationals or young starlets. Bayern's quality is undoubted but will they be focused on this Cup game with such big games on the horizon? Juventus game is two weeks away so possibly but I think this is one of the few spots that opposing Bayern on the handicap makes sense.
Bochum +3 here are 8/13 and it looks a really solid bet, I would even take the +2 and possibly the +1 depending on the team sheets. At 11/2 at home +1 is a value bet if Bochum are facing Bayern's second team. Dont get me wrong this is still a very tough game for Bochum but i fancy the minnows to push Bayern all the way here.
