Borussia Dortmund is welcoming Bayer Leverkusen in derby match of round 23 of German Bundesliga.
Borussia is one of the top teams in Germany but they are in a big slump at the moment with 5 games without a win and because of that slump Bayern Munich has caught up to them in the top of the standings. Dortmund’s home record is 9 wins, 2 draws and 0 losses with 37 scored goals and 15 conceded goals in 11 home games. In their last game in Bundesliga, Borussia has had 73% possession, 6 shots on goal, 11 corner kicks and amazing 91% of correct passes but were still unable to score a goal to the worst team in Bundesliga. Marco Reus is Borussia top goal scorer with 13 goals and Alcacer added 12 goals but unfortunately Reus, alongside Pulisic and Piszczek will not play because of injury. Borussia is still playing some of the best soccer in Germany and is cheered on by some of the best fans in the world and I believe that coach Lucien Favre will do everything to fix this offensive inefficiency and to stay at the top of the table.
Bayer Leverkusen have caught great form as of late and are on 4 game winning streak in Bundesliga which brought them to 6th place and only 4 points away of spot that leads to Champions League. Leverkusen has some really young defenders who don’t have a lot of experience but it seems that coach Peter Bosz has found a way to get them focused throughout the whole game and that is the main reason why Bayer is in such a good form. In their last Bundesliga game against Fortuna, Bayer has had amazing 84% ball possession with 7 shots on goal and staggering 93% of correct passes and have won 2-0. Bayer Leverkusen played a midweek game against Krasnodar and played to 1-1 draw and have been knocked out of Europa League so for the rest of the season they will be focusing on Bundesliga. Havertz scored 9 goals while Volland added 8 goals. Pohjanpalo, Restos and Bellarabi are injured and will not play. Bayer Leverkusen is playing really nice and offensively oriented soccer at the moment and will want to bounce back after their midweek Europa League elimination.
When these two teams meet there is no shortage of goals, especially in Dortmund and because Borussia is on a brink of loosing the lead in Bundesliga and Bayer is in a hunt of Champions League, I’m expecting fun and attractive game on both ends and most of all I’m expecting goals.
