In the group stage of the 2019 Copa America, Brazil will play against Peru at the Corinthians Arena.
Brazil were very poor in their previous match as they played 0-0 draw against Venezuela. This Brazilian team was already unpopular with their own fans and that result has only made things worse.
The result against Brazil was largely due to the forwards as they failed to convert their chances. Brazil controlled 69% of the possession and created 19 shots. That being said, Brazil only had 1 shot on target which causes the blame to be laid on the strikers. The likes of Roberto Firmino, Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus all failed to convert their chances and that cost Brazil the 3 points. Most teams will look to defend deep against Brazil and with Neymar injured, this team looks like they are lacking the flare to score goals.
As it currently stands, Brazil should make it through to the quarterfinals but with the fans unhappy with the team, the players must put out a good performance in this match.
On the other side of the pitch, Peru won their previous match as they defeated Bolivia 3-1. Peru were dominant during the victory as they had 60% of the ball and took 18 shots. Peru has 10 shots on target which allowed them to score the goals. Paolo Guerrero, Jefferson Farfán and Edison Flores were the goal scorers for Peru.
Peru are well positioned to qualify for the quarterfinals as they have 4 points from their 2 games. Winning this match will allow Peru to win the group.
Peru have been impressive in this tournament and they have shown that they can defend and attack. There is a great balance in the Peru side and they should cause Brazil some problems. That being said, I am going to pick Brazil to win this match. Brazil did everything but score against Venezuela and the players will be determined to win since the pressure from the fans will be huge. The strikers must perform for Brazil but with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus, goals should eventually come. Brazil have an outstanding team and I think they will be able to turn things around and comfortably win this match.
