German top-flight action kicks off again on Friday night as Bayern Munich aim for an eighth straight Bundesliga title.
Borussia Dortmund pushed the champions right to the wire last season and I believe this campaign will be an exciting one to watch, and to bet on!
The race for a top-four finish in Bundesliga is set to be hotly contested and the battle for relegation will be fierce.
Let’s delve deep into the betting markets to bring you the best odds and picks for the opening round of the Bundesliga 2019/20 campaign.
Bayern Munich vs. Hertha BSC
Bayern Munich has consistently scored at a frightening rate in recent seasons, and I don’t see that stopping any time soon.
In Robert Lewandowski, the squad possesses one of the most lethal strikers in world soccer, and the likes of Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman will all chip in too.
Hertha finished eleventh in the table last season while conceding 57 goals throughout the 2018/19 campaign.
I expect Bayern to get off to a flier at home against Hertha and a big scoreline is on the cards.
Pick: Bayern Munich to Score +4.5 goals – 5.25
Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Schalke 04
Gladbach enjoyed a successful 2018/19 campaign as the club finished fifth in the Bundesliga table, just three points behind fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen.
On the other hand, Schalke had a season to forget. It finished fourteenth in the table and just five points clear of the relegation play-off place.
Schalke struggled for goals last season. Only the three relegated teams found the net on fewer occasions, and I can see this being a real problem again this term.
I predict that Gladbach will cruise to a comfortable opening victory over Schalke without conceding a goal.
Pick: Borussia Monchengladbach to Win to Nil – 3.75
Union Berlin vs. RB Leipzig
This is Union Berlin’s first ever match in Germany’s top-flight following promotion from the second-tier last season.
It will be an extremely difficult opening tie for the team as it comes up against last season’s third-place finisher RB Leipzig.
Leipzig finished with a goal difference of +34 last season while also conceding the least amount of goals of all the teams in the Bundesliga (29).
Union Berlin is facing a real step-up in quality from last season and I see the team struggling to compete in the top-flight.
Leipzig has some top-class attacking talent and I predict that it will win both halves in its season opener on Sunday.
Pick: RB Leipzig to Win Both Halves – 2.62
