In the English Premier League, Burnley will host Liverpool at Turf Moor.
Liverpool had an emphatic win over the weekend as the Reds defeated their old rivals, Everton, thanks to an injury time goal. It was a decent performance by Liverpool as they controlled most of the ball but they were let down by their strikers as their shot on target percentage was less than 19%. While it is easy to be critical of Liverpool, it is important to acknowledge their busy schedule and many of the top players looked fatigued. This match will not help Liverpool’s issues with fatigue as the team will only get a very small gap. It is expected that Klopp will rest many of the top players but with the likes of Sturridge and Shaqiri not regulars, there should be enough talent in the starting 11.
On the other side of the court, Burnley were very disappointing in their previous fixture as they were beaten comfortably by Crystal Palace. In the defeat, Burnley looked very poor as they had only 41% of the possession and no shots on goal. Considering that Liverpool are a much stronger side compared to Crystal Palace, this match could end in an ugly manner for the home side. As it currently stands, Burnley are in 19th spot and deep in the relegation zone meaning that the team will have the desperation to improve since every point will be vital for survival.
While Burnley are a much stronger unit at home, I see them losing this match. Burnley have been very poor against the top teams as they had big losses to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. The defence looks terrible for Burnley and I see them struggling to control the Liverpool attack. I see Liverpool winning this match comfortably.
