Celta Vigo is welcoming Barcelona in round 36 of Spanish LaLiga.
After a rocky start of the season, Celta is finally playing nice and attractive soccer and has lost only 1 of their last 6 games. Celta is holding 15th place in the standings with 37 points and is only 2 points outside the relegation zone. In their last game against Leganes, Celta had a decent game with 53% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal and 77% of correct passes and this game ended in a 0-0 draw. Aspas is Celta’s best player and a top goal scorer with 16 goals while Gomez added 12 goals. Emre Mor is the only injured player in Celta’s squad. Celta has scored 12 goals in last 12 matches and 48 goals total in the season. Celta’s biggest problem for most of the season was their bad defense who conceded 57 goals in 35 matches and that is the main reason why Celta is fighting for their lives in LaLiga and not for European competitions. Coach Segura was signed in March this year and his only task was to save the club from relegation and he is doing a great job. Celta has a lot of potential with some young players like Gomez, Mor, Lobotka, and Beltran and with coach Segura being on the bench for next season, Celta could be one of the surprises in LaLiga.
Barcelona is the new LaLiga Champion, for the second time in a row. Barcelona is playing great soccer, I dare to say the best in Europe at the moment and has just beaten Liverpool in a Champions League semifinals 3-0. In their last Liga game against Levante, Barcelona was dominant with 62% of ball possession, 12 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks and 87% of correct passes and has won this game 1-0 and won the title 3 games before the end of the season. Messi is the leader of Barcelona and the best player in the world who scored 34 goals and has 12 assists in 32 LaLiga games. Rafinha is injured and will not be playing in this game. Coach Valverde is doing an excellent job in preparing the team and rotating players to give them enough rest and keep them fresh. With 86 scored goals, Barcelona is one of the best offensive teams in Europe alongside Manchester City and Liverpool. Barcelona hasn’t lost any of their last 23 matches and is on a 5-game winning streak. Coach Valverde is expected to rest his top players like Messi, Suarez, Rakitic, Pique, Busquets, Alba and Coutinho for the second leg of Champions League semifinals and will give a chance to some young players like Alena, Puig, Todibo, and Murillo.
Celta hasn’t lost any of their last 4 home games against Barcelona and we usually see a great game between these two teams. Celta needs a positive result here to stay outside of relegation zone while Barcelona has no need for anything here and for that reason, I will take a stab at Celta who is actually a favorite according to the bookies.
