Celta Vigo is hosting Real Madrid in round 1 of Spanish LaLiga.
Celta Vigo barely escaped relegation zone last season with 41 points, only 5 points ahead of Girona on 18th spot. Celta was just terrible last season on both ends of the field and has conceded 62 goals which are almost 2 goals per game. Celta was pretty active on the market this summer with 12 departures and 11 incoming transfer from which most notable is Santi Mina from Valencia and Denis Suarez from Barcelona. In this preseason period, Celta played 5 games and has won 3 and lost 2 matches with a goal differential of 8 scored goals and only 3 conceded goals. Coach Segura was signed in March of this year and he is the main reason why Celta was able to avoid the relegation zone. With some great young players like Mina, Sisto, Mendez and Denis Suarez combined with Celta's legend Iago Aspas I expect for Celta to have a lot better season than the last and to in the top 10 in LaLiga.
Real Madrid is always one of the top favorites to win LaLiga. Real Madrid was one of the most active clubs on the market this summer and has made some great buys and are still buying. Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo have arrived in Madrid for 304 million euros combined, while Gareth Bale will most certainly leave Madrid in the next few weeks. Real Madrid has played 7 matches in the preseason period and has lost 4 by conceding a minimum of 3 goals in 3 of those 4 matches they lost. Real Madrid is still a mess on the defensive end and with so many changes in the squad coach Zidane has his work cut out for him and it will take a few games for Real Madrid to catch good form and good results to start to come. Last season Real Madrid ended up in the third spot behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and got knocked out of Champions League by Ajax in the first knockout round. Real Madrid is a team with some fantastic young players like Vinicius Junior, Jovic, Rodrygo, Militao and Mendy and experienced players like Ramos, Modric, Benzema, Kroos, Casemiro, and Hazard who all have won most of the biggest titles in soccer. I am confident that Real Madrid will be close to the top of LaLiga, but with both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona and even Sevilla getting stronger, LaLiga will be exciting and tense until the end.
Whenever Celta and Real Madrid meet, the game is exciting and enjoyable with lots of opportunities and goals and because this is the first game of the season and Real's defense is a mess I expect the same thing here.
