Celtic look to make it to the Champions League again as they kick off their qualifying campaign with a home game against Icelandic side Stjarnan. Celtic obviously are in the midst of pre season and it's not an ideal preparation for a huge game like this but Celtic are used to it at this stage having to qualify every season. The leaders for Ronnie Delia's side will be Scott Brown, Anthony Stokes and Craig Gordon it will be interesting to see if any of the summer signings can make a breakthrough into the first team. I expect a similar team to what we seen win the Scottish league last season with the aforementioned Stokes and Brown being key.
Hard for me to make much of an assessment of Stjarnan, I had a look at some of their recent games in the Icelandic league and it's really difficult to judge how good this team is based on those performances. I think that Stjarnan will come to Scotland and play defensively. But having watched their recent struggles , they have lost five of their last eight, I think that Celtic are just going to befar too strong here. The handicap line is set at 3 and that is a big number for any team to handle especially as Celtic have yet to start their own domestic league.
But with that said, I think Celtic are going to be far too strong here and I am going to take over 3.5 goals in the game. I expect it to be because Celtic cover the handicap but just in case Stjarnan manage one in a 3-1 loss I've taking the overs in the goals.
