Eden Hazard and his Chelsea teammates are set to face Southampton in the English Premier League as the Saints travel to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had a good win over the weekend as they beat Crystal Palace away from home at Selhurst Park. The Blues are currently 4th on the ladder but with Arsenal and Manchester United close behind them, Chelsea will know the importance of winning every possible game. In their last fixture, Kante played extremely well as his goal was the difference between the two teams. It was a solid win for Chelsea as they controlled 66% of the ball and had 8 more shots than Crystal Palace. With a good result under their belt, Chelsea will be confident they can win this game, especially since it is being played at home.
On the other side of the coin, Southampton suffered a defeat at home as they were beaten convincingly by Manchester City. It has been a very poor season for Southampton as they are only one spot above the relegation zone. This is going to be a very tough match for Southampton as they have a very poor defence and it will struggle to stop the likes of Willian, Eden Hazard and N’golo Kante. It is going be made more difficult by the fact that Southampton are going to be away from home.
When these two teams met earlier in the season at St Mary’s Stadium, Chelsea won with ease in a scoreline of 3-0.
Taking everything into consideration, Chelsea look to be in a much stronger position when compared to Southampton. The Blues are in good form, have better players and will be playing this fixture. With the Saints in poor touch, I am picking Chelsea to begin their year by getting three points on the board.
