Chelsea visit The Hammers at Upton Park during the Wednesday evening Premier League action. Chelsea snatched their first of what could be many trophies last Saturday when they beat Tottenham at Wembley. Not only did the victory serve as a morale boost for a side that had started to doubt their recent performances, but it reasserted their style of play in an emphatic manner and they did the job without Matic. They will be without Matic once again for this London derby, however they will be facing a West Ham side that has also been in a funk as of late. With Andy Carroll out, a lot of the scoring has been asked of the Enner Valencia and Sakho duo which seems to be lacking the sharpness they had before Christmas.
However, Upton Park is always a hard place to visit and do not doubt that with Alardyce in the dugout, West Ham will come out of the locker rooms ready to pounce on Chelsea early on. Considering that Chelsea whether the initial storm and get settled into their renowned passing game there should not be much to fear.
Considering that the likes of Fabregas, Costa, and Oscar will all be fielded, Chelsea should have too much talent compared to West Ham. On top of this, Cuadrado who has been coming off the bench of late could be given the nod ahead of Willian in the hopes of resting him for the weekend. Nevertheles, it is not like Cuadrado is a bad replacement for Willian. I’m sure any squad in European football would enjoy having the services of Juan Cuadrado. For this reason, I do expect a complicated game but with Chelsea getting back into their groove I believe that they will prove to be too much for West Ham. My recommendation is to take Chelsea at odds of 1.61.
