The start of Louis Van Gaal and Manchester United's second season together will be a tough game against Mexican side America at the home of the Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink Field. United come into this game having five day of training behind them in the states, new signings Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlein and Depay will be anxious to get their first game for Manchester United out of the way and it will be interesting to see how Van Gaal sets his team up. With one busy day in the market United went from having arguaby the worst midfield in the top six to having the best midfield, quite a turn around and it will be interesting to see how long it takes the players to gel. Depay and Rooney look likely to be two of the three up front with maybe Juan Mata playing behind or up top with them.
America of course are missing some key players who are with Mexico in the Gold Cup and will also be missing some of their squad that played in the Copa America as they would be late in coming back for pre season. This fixture is going to be a tough one for their squad but I imagine alot of those getting starts will be trying to put themselves in the shop window not just for bigger European teams but for the MLS also. America were knocked out at the final stages in Mexico's league by Pachuca in a crazy two legged tie that finished 7-5 on aggregate a disappointing result for a side who had the most points at the half way stage.
Again as with all friendlies I wouldnt be investing much here but given the amount of players America have involved in the Gold Cup and missing for one reason or another I am going to take Manchester United -1 on the handicap. United have a full strength squad over and even if they rotate and play 22 players over the course of the ninty minutes I think they should be far too strong for Club America.
