The Colorado Rapids will be in action in the MLS as they host the San Jose Earthquake at DSG Park. This is a match between the two worst teams in the Western Conference and it should mean that both teams will see this as a chance to get some points and move away from the bottom. Neither team has played well this season and while that shouldn’t change in this game, it should mean we get a close contest.
The Colorado Rapids got a much-needed win last weekend as they beat the LA Galaxy. This was a huge win for the Rapids as they beat one of the best sides in the competition. That win ensured that they remained second last and even if they lost this game, they will not go last. Outside of standings, that win would have given the Colorado Rapids lots of confidence which they will look to use in this fixture. In the past, the Colorado Rapids have looked like a side that lacks self-belief and it will be interesting to see if the win over the LA Galaxy has changed that.
Similarly, the San Jose Earthquake also managed to pull off a major upset as they beat the top team in the Western Conference, FC Dallas. This win was more impressive than that of Colorado’s since the Earthquake were away from home. San Jose seems like a team that has gotten a new life and they will hope to collect a few wins as they have a relatively easy run for the new few weeks. This is a game that San Jose can win and they will feel good about their chances following their win last weekend.
While both of these teams will feel they can win, I think neither will win and we will get a draw. These two teams are very even in most aspects and I think the home ground advantage won’t help much since DSG Park has been very empty recently. With that in mind, I see these two teams sharing the points.
