A must win for both teams with a place in the knockout phase of the tournament at stake. Cuba are massive underdogs coming into this game but arguably this is a game that Cuba would feel they can win. Cuba played much better in their second game against Trinidad only losing by two goals in comparison to their 6-0 hammering by Mexico in the opening game of the tournament. Cuba are one of the rank outsiders in the Gold Cup but a win here against a fellow outsider would put Cuba into the knockout stages. Look for young striker Reyes to be the key man for Cuba, the question is can they create enough chances for him to take one?
Guatemala produced the performance of the tournament so far in stifling Mexico and holding them to a 0-0 draw. Guatemala actually played really well in the second half against Trinidad after beng completely outplayed in the first half, the truth being that Guatemala missed enough chances to at least tie that game. The key man for Guatemala will be Ruiz who scored against Trinidad and created a number of guilt edged chances that were not taken, Pappa and Contreras will be the support cast but the question is can Guatemala score the goals to make it to the knockout stages?
Taking the unders here. I dont see many goals between these teams and although I do think that Guatemala will get the job done I think that this a game that will be very defensive and could be settled by a solitary goal.
