Cyprus is hosting Belgium in round 2 of Euro Cup qualification.
Cyprus is one of the worst teams in Europe and have won only 2 games out of the last 14 games including one against San Marino 3 days ago where Cyprus was absolutely dominating with 78% ball possession, 10 shots on goal and staggering 91% of correct passes and have won this game 5-0 which certainly gave them a huge boost going forward. Cyprus best players are Sotirou and Laifis and are both expected to lead Cyprus once again in this game. Against pretty much every team Cyprus is playing against they are in full defense mode because they don’t have quality or tactic to do otherwise and coach Shimon will need to everything possible to prepare his team. Cyprus may have started these qualifications with a win but in a group this strong with Belgium, Russia, Scotland and Kazakhstan it will be extremely hard for them to stay in one of the top two spots that lead to Euro Cup.
Belgium is plain and simple offensive firepower with players liked Hazard, Mertens, Lukaku, Dembele and Carasco who are capable of destroying any team in the world. In their last game against Russia, Belgium have put all of their strengths on display by having 60% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks and 87% of correct passes and have won this game 3-1. Belgium was always a good team but with signing of coach Martinez back in August of 2016, Belgium team has added a little bit of that Spanish swagger that we all love and have raised to another level and are able to compete with any team out there. Belgium is one of the main favorites to win Euro Cup and with high pressure they play when not in possession of the ball it is really hard to stop them.
In this matchup I’m not giving a any chance to Cyprus and I’m expecting Belgium to win another game here.
