Russia were exceptional in their opening game against Saudi Arabia and the home crowd are starting to get behind their nation. This week they will play their second game of the group stages as they take on Egypt. If Russia wins, they will make the round of 16 and that is great motivation for the hosts.
Egypt were very good against Uruguay and if luck favored them better, they could have left with a win. That being said, they are now in a situation where they must win this game if they wish to remain in the competition. This will be a challenge since they are up against a national side that is high of confidence. A big factor will be if Mohamed Salah is fit for this game. If the Liverpool striker is fit and can play, things will be much better for Egypt.
On the other side of the coin, Russia will look to use the home crowd to get an advantage. The home side has many talented players but lacks the superstars that other teams have. It will be important that Russia play positively since that is when they are at their best. Egypt will prove to be a much stronger test for the host nation than Saudi Arabia. A draw will most likely be enough for Russia to qualify since they have an amazing goal difference but they will look to win and keep their momentum going.
Taking everything into consideration, I am going to suggest that this game ends as a draw. Russia are not as talented as Egypt and are the weaker side but with the home crowd behind them, they should be good enough to hold on and get a draw. This should also be a low scoring game since I see Russia playing a defensive style. In addition to that, Egypt showed against Uruguay that they struggle to score.
