England is welcoming Czech Republic in round 1 of Euro Cup qualifications.
After years of bad results and even worse soccer, England is finally showing their worth with good and really enjoyable soccer. England is ranked as 5thin FIFA standings and that is mostly because of their result in World Cup last year where England ended up in a fourth place. England was playing some of their best soccer in years during World cup qualifications in 2017 and even better soccer during the World Cup where they lost against Croatia in overtime in semifinals and then lost a match for third place against Belgium. England’s coach Gareth Southgate was signed back in November od 2016 and decided to take England in a different direction by changing his roster quite a bit and giving more chances to younger players like Dele Ali, Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling who are all playing major roles in their clubs. In their last game against Croatia, England was completely dominant with 7 shots on goal and 65% ball possession and won this game after losing 1-0 until last twelve minutes. England ended up winning their Nations League group in front of Spain and Croatia and haven’t lost any of their last five games. England is playing great soccer with lots of plays through their wingers and crossing the ball into the box to Harry Kane.
Czech Republic is a pretty good young team and have show that in their last two games against Slovakia and Poland which they ended up winning without a conceded goal. Czech’s best players are Kadaberek and Shick who scored 3 goals in last years Nations League where Czech Republic ended up second behind Slovakia. In their last game against Slovakia, Czech Republic had only 43% ball possession but were better in every other segment of the game and deservedly won that game 1-0. Coach Silavy was signed in September of 2018 and since then Czech Republic is playing better soccer and have won 3 and lost 3 games. In this Euro Cup qualifications Czech is in group with Bulgaria, England, Kosovo and Montenegro and their chances to end up in top 2 and to get qualified for Euro Cup are pretty good.
These two teams played only once back in 2008 and that game ended 2-2 but difference is that Czech Republic had better team then and England is much better team now. England’s superstars are all healthy and will go all in to get these qualifications started with a win.
