English Championship: Best Bets – Round 27 – Odds, Predictions, and Picks
Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 6:47 PM (England)
England’s second tier consistently provides us with profitable betting opportunities. The league table is especially tight at the moment, so I view this as the perfect time to get the better of the bookies.
Here are this weekend’s best Championship bets.
Brentford vs. QPR – 1/11/20
Brentford have climbed to third in the Championship table after winning five of their last seven games. The battle for play-off places is extremely fierce, but the Bees have set themselves up well for the race to finish in the top six. On the other hand, QPR have been one of the most inconsistent sides in the division and sit fifteenth. Only second-place West Brom have scored more goals than QPR in 2019/20, but just two teams have conceded more goals than QPR. By contrast, Brentford have the best defensive record in the division, so I can see the home side winning this game without conceding.
Pick: Brentford to Win and Keep a Clean Sheet – 3.00
Reading vs. Nottingham Forest – 1/11/20
Two of the league’s in-form teams meet at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. Home side Reading have won their last four games and are unbeaten in six, while visitors Nottingham Forest have won their last three. Still, Forest are fourth – eight points ahead of fourteenth-place Reading. There’s no denying that Forest are the better side, but Reading will be confident of upsetting the odds. Sabri Lamouchi’s men come into this game as the favorites, but given Reading’s promising recent run, I can see this one ending in a draw.
Pick: The Draw – 3.00
Charlton Athletic vs. West Bromwich Albion – 1/11/20
After a promising start to the season, Charlton are in danger of becoming involved in a relegation battle. Lee Bowyer’s side start 2019/20 brightly, but they now find themselves just five points clear of the drop zone. At the other end of the table, West Brom have opened up a nine-point lead over third-place Brentford and look set to secure promotion back to the Premier League. The Baggies are the bookies’ favorites at 1.50. However, West Brom are the division’s top scorers, so I can see them winning both halves.
Pick: West Bromwich Albion to Win Half Time/Full Time – 2.30
