English Championship: Best Bets – Round 29 – Odds, Predictions, and Picks
Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 12:08 PM (England)
The race for promotion to the Premier League is heating up as the chasing pack continue to make up ground on West Brom and Leeds. The mid-table is also extremely congested, so there’s never been a better time to take advantage of the bookies’ odds in the Championship.
Let’s get stuck into the best bets for the midweek Championship fixtures.
Wigan Athletic vs. Sheffield Wednesday – 1/28/20
Wigan are in danger of dropping down into the third tier once again after only managing to win five of their 28 league game this term. The Latics have won just once in their previous 16 and find themselves involved in a relegation battle. On the other hand, Sheffield Wednesday are in the hunt for a play-off place and sit just four points behind the top six. The Owls come into this game on the back of an impressive away win against QPR in the FA Cup, so I'm backing them to continue their decent form and claim their third win in four games in all competitions. Odds of 2.50 seem too good to ignore.
Pick: Sheffield Wednesday – 2.50
Blackburn Rovers vs. QPR – 1/28/20
I’m expecting plenty of goals in this matchup, so both teams to score makes sense here. Blackburn sit two points ahead of QPR in the table. But while both sides don’t have any problems scoring, neither team has a pretty defensive record. Just two teams in the division have conceded more goals than QPR this season, and both of those sides are currently in the relegation zone. However, only league leaders West Brom have scored more. Blackburn have scored and conceded in five of their previous six games in all competitions, so I can see that happening again on Tuesday.
Pick: Both Teams to Score – 1.60
Brentford vs. Nottingham Forest – 1/28/20
With Brentford and Nottingham Forest both firmly in the race for promotion, this game could prove to be absolutely vital come the end of the season. Both sides are currently sitting pretty in the play-off places, with Forest one point ahead of Brentford. The Bees boast the best defensive record in the division, while only Leeds and Brentford have conceded fewer goals than Sabri Lamouchi’s side in 2019/20. Additionally, Forest have scored the fewest goals of all the teams in the top six, so this is likely to be a low-scoring encounter. Under 2.5 goals seems like the best bet here.
Pick: Under 2.5 Goals – 1.75
