Cardiff City vs Newcastle United: Both these teams lost their opening round fixtures and will be desperate to turn things around. Newcastle United has the better squad and while that wasn’t enough against Tottenham, they will hope it will be enough in this match. That being said, Cardiff City have an amazing home record. Cardiff City were one of the hardest teams to beat at home last season and the trip to Wales is hard for any visiting side. That should play to the advantage of the home team. Taking everything into consideration, I am predicting a draw.
Everton vs Southampton: Everton’s new signing, Richarlison, lit up the game last weekend as the Brazilian managed to get the Toffees a point after they went down to 10 men away from home. The manager will hope that he can continue his good form and lead Everton to a win this weekend. Their opponent, Southampton, were poor in their opening round match as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The Saints lacked quality and flair. The attack was weak and the midfield lacked creativity. This will cost them against a good team like Everton. I am picking Everton to get a win at home.
Leicester vs Wolves: Leicester City lost away from home to Manchester United last weekend. This was not a great result for the Foxes but it was not a surprise as the Red Devils are a top team. This weekend they will be far more optimistic since they are playing weaker opposition at home. On the other side of the coin, Wolves threw away a win last weekend. Wolves were playing at home against an Everton team that had a player sent off. They only managed a draw from that fixture. This will be a tougher fixture since they will be away from home and I think they will lose. I am picking Leicester City to win at home.
West Ham vs Bournemouth: Bournemouth won their opening round match at home against Cardiff City. The Cherries will be feeling confident heading into this match since the team looked in good form. Their opponents, West Ham, lost poorly to Liverpool. On paper, these sides are evenly matched but on form, Bournemouth have an advantage. That being said, West Ham will have the advantage of being at home. These factors look like they will even themselves out meaning that I am picking this match to be a draw.
Burnley vs Watford: Both these teams started the season well. Burnley got a draw away from home while Watford won at home. There is tons of talent at both teams and they both had very good 2017/2018 seasons. This is a new campaign and they will look to repeat the form of last season. Both teams added players during the summer transfer window but with the incentive of Europe, Burnley did a better job. I think Burnley are the better team and at home, I think they will be good enough to get all 3 points.
Manchester City vs Huddersfield: This could end up being a very one-sided match. Manchester City are very strong while Huddersfield are not. Furthermore, Manchester City will be at home which will make the difference between the two sides even greater. I don’t think the visitors have a chance in this match since they are not good enough. I am predicting Manchester City to give Huddersfield Town a thrashing. This game could easily end 4-0 or 5-0 in favor of the home team.
