The English Premier League is back and there was no shortage of action on the opening weekend of the new campaign.
Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United each scored +3.5 goals while newly promoted Sheffield United picked up a vital point away at Bournemouth.
Six of the ten fixtures in Round 1of the EPL produced +2.5 goals and just two of the matches finished goalless.
Let’s take a look at the best bets for Round 2.
Arsenal vs. Burnley
Both Arsenal and Burnley began their 2019/20 campaigns with a win.
Arsenal picked up a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Newcastle United while Burnley comfortably beat Southampton 3-0 at Turf Moor.
Arsenal strengthened its squad in the summer transfer window but despite adding quality in attack, I still think they are vulnerable in defense.
I expect Arsenal to beat Burnley at home. However, considering that The Clarets scored three on the opening day, I can see Burnley scoring.
When you couple Burnley’s threat in attack with Arsenal’s frailties at the back, a home win and both teams to score makes sense.
Pick: Arsenal to Win and Both Teams to Score – 3.00
Sheffield United vs. Crystal Palace
Sheffield United’s first match back in the top-flight saw the club pick up a dramatic late point thanks to an 88thminute Billy Sharp equalizer against Bournemouth.
On the other hand, Crystal Palace began its 2019/20 campaign with a goalless draw at home to Everton.
Sheff Utd boasted the best defensive record in the Championship last season and I can see the team being equally as tough to break down this term.
Crystal Palace struggled for goals last season, and following a disappointing transfer window, I don’t see its problems improving.
Sheff Utd will be fired up for its first Premier League home match in over a decade, and I predict that the team will win without conceding a goal.
Pick: Sheffield United to Win to Nil – 3.60
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs. Manchester United
Wolves take on Man Utd on Monday night to wrap up Round 2 of the EPL 2019/20.
Man Utd thrashed Chelsea 4-0 on the opening day while Wolves picked up a point against Leicester City.
Wolves had a fantastic record against the ‘big six’ last season, claiming victories against Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Monday’s opponent Manchester United.
Man Utd will come into this match on a high but I can see Wolves continuing its domination of the top clubs in the league and pouncing to snatch all three points.
Wolves may be the underdogs but the team proved last season that it is capable of upsetting the big boys.
Pick: Wolverhampton Wanderers to Win – 3.40
