The EPL is back and this means that there are hundreds of betting opportunities for us all to take advantage of.
We are all familiar with the general win/lose options however, if you look beyond the obvious bets, you will find a wide range of markets offering far more tasty odds.
Let’s take a look at the best bets for Round 1 of the Premier League 2019/20 season.
Liverpool vs. Norwich City
Norwich are back in the top-flight following promotion from the second-tier last season, and their first match could hardly be more difficult.
Norwich face last season’s Premier League runners-up and Champions League winners, Liverpool.
The Canaries won’t have fond memories of this fixture. Liverpool have scored 27 goals in the last seven meetings between the two teams, with The Reds netting 5 goals on four separate occasions.
That’s an average of just under 4 goals per game and with Liverpool’s attack stronger than ever, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will be licking their lips at the prospect of an opening-day goal fest.
With the vast gulf in class between the sides, I expect Liverpool to run riot once again.
Pick: Liverpool to score over 4.5 goals – 5.00
Bournemouth vs. Sheffield United
Sheffield United will want to get their campaign off to the best possible start, and of the three newly promoted teams, The Blades certainly have the easiest opening fixture.
Bournemouth were on fire in stages last term but proved to be very hit and miss as the season progressed.
Sheffield United boasted the best defensive record in the Championship last season and I can see them frustrating Bournemouth on the opening day.
Chris Wilder will want to keep his defense equally as tight this season, meaning Sheff Utd could well come away from this match without conceding a goal.
Pick: Sheffield United to keep a clean sheet – 4.50
West Ham United vs. Manchester City
We all know about the strength of Man City, but I can see West Ham snatching a draw here.
Opening-day matches often spring up some real surprises and with West Ham playing at home, the team and the fans will be fired up for the occasion.
West Ham have strengthened significantly in the transfer window. $45 million striker Sebastian Haller has joined from Eintracht Frankfurt and Pablo Fornals has been signed from Villarreal for $30 million.
While I can’t see West Ham claiming the victory, a draw is looking like a seriously profitable bet.
Pick: Draw – 6.50
Crystal Palace vs. Everton
Everton have been extremely busy in the transfer window and I can the Merseyside club getting off to a flier this year.
The signing of highly-rated youngster Moise Kean is a huge statement. The 19-year-old has joined the club from Italian giants Juventus for $30 million.
If Marco Silva can blend him into the team alongside the likes of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson, Everton could be one of the surprise packages this season.
The fact that Everton are away from home on the opening day makes these odds attractive and I expect The Toffees to put a few past Crystal Palace.
Pick: Everton to score over 2.5 goals – 5.50
