The Premier League’s famous Boxing Day fixtures offer us some excellent betting opportunities this year. England’s top-flight always dishes up some thrilling games at this time of year, so I’ve picked three matchups to take a closer look at.
Here are the best bets for the Premier League’s 2019 Boxing Day games.
Sheffield United vs. Watford – 12/26/19
Sheff Utd are up to fifth in the table after a run of three straight league wins. Only Liverpool and Leicester have conceded fewer top-flight goals than the Blades this season, but Chris Wilders men don’t score too many, either. Watford will come into this game full of confidence following victory over Man Utd. However, the Hornets remain at the bottom of the table and will find Sheff Utd extremely hard to break down at Bramall Lane. I can see the home side winning this comfortably, but I don’t think there will be too many goals.
Pick: Sheffield United to Win and Under 3.5 Goals – 2.30
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Brighton & Hove Albion – 12/26/19
Seventh-place Tottenham come into this game on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to London rivals Chelsea. Spurs are now six points off the top four. Brighton also lost their previous game and currently sit thirteenth in the table. Spurs should have enough quality to beat Brighton, but Jose Mourinho’s side have a questionable recent defensive record. I’m backing Tottenham to win this matchup, but not without Brighton scoring. Spurs to win and both teams to score makes sense here.
Pick: Tottenham Hotspur to Win and Both Teams to Score – 2.78
Aston Villa vs. Norwich City – 12/26/19
Aston Villa host Norwich in a relegation six-pointer on Boxing Day. Villa are eighteenth with 15 points, while the Canaries are one place and three points behind. Only goal difference is keeping Norwich off the bottom of the table at the moment. Both teams have poor defensive records in 2019/20, so we’re likely to see some goals at Villa Park. However, neither side will want to lose this game, so I can see the points being shared.
Pick: The Draw – 3.75
