On Wednesday night Everton will host Newcastle United in what should be a decent game of ball as Everton are in good form and are tough to beat especially at home and Newcastle while struggling to get points have actually played well of late. The magpies have lost four in a row on the road but all their losses have been by a single goal and in both Watford games they were quite unlucky. Goals have been a problem all season for Steve McLaren's side with the midfield of Wijnaldum, Cissokho and Jaanmat the main goal getters this season. Newcastle are a side that struggle for consistancy as well and it's tough to know what to make of them at times with the side currently in the relegation zone this is going to be a nailbiting finish to the season. Although Newcastle have spent big in the January window bringing in Shelvey, Townsend and Doumbia. Will it be enough to save their season? Possibly but this is a tough start for the new signings away at a talented Everton team.
Everton went out of the League Cup semi final last week but safely negotiated a tricky away tie in the FA Cup at the weekend. The Toffees are among the most talented attacking teams in the Premier League with Lukaku, Barkley , Kone and Deulofeu all capable of providiing that attakcing spark needed to open up defences. Lukaku is having a career year with fifteen goals in the league already this season and the former Chelsea man looks at the moment like the best striker in the league, unplayable on his day. Ross Barkley is starting to deliver on that potential and is giving England fans hope for the 2016 Euro Championships such has his form been this year.
I'm going to take Everton to win and both teams to score here as I think while Everton have bundles of potential going forward they really do struggle defensively and I think Newcastle can find the net here.
