Barcelona is set to host Rayo Vallecano in round 27 of Spanish LaLiga.
Barcelona is playing in great form and are winning games both home and away. Barcelona is on a 10 game streak without a loss in which they scored 20 goals and conceded only 6 goals. In their last LaLiga game against Real Madrid, Barcelona played well with 52% ball possession and 4 shots on goal and with 84% of correct passes which is surprisingly low for Barcelona team. Messi leads Barcelona with 25 goals and 11 assists in 24 matches fallowed by Suarez with 16 goals. Suarez is finally coming into good scoring form with 3 goals in last 3 matches which is really good for Barcelona because they are playing important Champions League match against Lyon next week. Barcelona is at the top of LaLiga standings with 60 points and are 7 points in front of Atletico Madrid who is their main competitor this season. The only injured player on Barcelona’s squad is Rafinha who will not play this match. Barcelona is playing offensively oriented soccer with high ball possession and high pressure when they are not in possession and most importantly Barcelona’s defense has finally stabilized and is able to support their goalkeeper Ter Steagen and with that their offense will get more freedom. In this match coach Valverde is expected to rest some of the more important players like Rakitic, Busquets and Suarez and Messi are probably not going to play entire match but Barcelona has good enough players on bench who are eager to prove their worth to the coach.
Rayo Vallecano are fighting for their lives in LaLiga and are not doing well. With 5 straight losses Rayo Vallecano is holding second to last place in the standings but are only 2 points away of safe zone because they had solid start of the season. Raul DeTomas is Rayo Vallecano’s top goals scorer with 10 goals in 23 matches. Elustando and Ulche are injured and will not play in this game. Vallecano has score only 3 goals and conceded 9 goals in this loosing stretch. Rayo Vallecano is the team that just doesn’t have enough quality to compete with most of the teams in LaLiga and their only goal is to preserve their LaLiga status but to accomplish that Rayo Vallecano will need to improve on both ends because at the moment they are not playing well and can’t keep the ball out of their net. In their last LaLiga match at home against Girona, Rayo Vallecano had 54% possession, 3 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks and 80% of correct passes but none of that helped because they lost 0:2 and once again haven’t been able to score a goal.
Rayo Vallecano hasn’t won any of their last 12 games against Barcelona and Barcelona has scored 31 goals in last 6 matches against Rayo Vallecano. Barcelona will rest some players in this match and Rayo needs every point they can scrap but I’m still not giving them a lot of chances in this matchup.
