El Classico is set to take place this weekend as Real Madrid and Barcelona face each other at Camp Nou.
Real Madrid have found it tough to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and things are not looking good for the team as they are currently 7th on the La Liga standings. Real Madrid have not won in their last 5 La Liga games with 4 of those fixtures ending in defeat. It has been one of the worst starts to a season in the history of the club and with only 14 points after 9 games, the team’s only chance of some redemption will be winning this match against their old rivals. Scoring goals has been a big issue for Real Madrid and with no Ronaldo to rely on, the likes of Benzema, Isco and Bale are not taking responsibility for the team. This sets up a very difficult match for Real Madrid away from home.
On the other side of the coin, Barcelona won a big game in the Champions League midweek as they defeated Inter Milan 2-0. The big issue for Barcelona will be the loss of Leo Messi who will miss this match since he has a broken arm. With Messi out of the side, Barcelona still showed they can produce goals as the likes of Jordi Alba and Rafael stepped-up. Barcelona will be blessed with the support of their home fans for this game and considering the recent struggles for Real Madrid, they will like their chances.
El Classicos always produce great games of soccer as some of the best players in the world will on the pitch. As far as the winner is concerned, I am going to pick Barcelona. Barcelona have been playing much better and they showed they can win without Leo Messi midweek. With this match being played at the Camp Nou, I see Barcelona getting all 3 points.
