AS Roma will be looking to rebuild this season as the Italian giants were hugely diminished in this transfer window. Many of the top players that got the side to the Champions League semi-finals were sold and now the team must get new players so the team can return to the top. They will continue this rebuilding in the preseason as they take on FC Barcelona in a preseason friendly.
FC Barcelona were eliminated by AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League and although a preseason win isn’t much payback, the Spanish side will still be determined to win. The preseason is a great chance for FC Barcelona to try many of their squad players and ensure they have enough depth for the long season ahead. It is unlikely the likes of Coutinho, Suarez, Dembele or Messi will play but there is still more than enough talent at the club to entertain any match.
On the other hand, AS Roma will look to get their strategy right and prepare their new goalkeeper for the season ahead. The Italian side were beaten badly in their last preseason match against Tottenham and although the result doesn’t mean much, it shows that there is lots to do for the club. FC Barcelona will be another test for the Italian side and they should hope that the result is better since 2 bad losses is not the preseason Roma would have hoped for a few weeks ago.
All in all, I am expecting an entertaining game filled with very exciting players. I think that this will be a high scoring game since both teams are lacking defensive talent at this stage of the preseason. As far as the result is concerned, I am going to back FC Barcelona to win. The Spanish giants are looking better than Roma and I don’t think that will change in this fixture.
