Bayern is hosting Mainz in round 26 of German Bundesliga.
Bayern is a bit shaken up after their midweek loss against Liverpool in Champions League and will be eager to win this match and to stay on the top of the standings. In their last Bundesliga outing against Wolfsburg, Bayern has shown all of their power and once again proved they are top dog in Germany with 60% ball possession, 12 shots on goal, 88% correct passes and 6 scored goals. Even though Bayern got knocked out of Champions League in front of their own fans, they still have the best team and are playing the most enjoyable soccer with a lot of produced chances and scored goals. Lewandowski Leads Bayern with 17 goals while Kimmich added 10 assists. Tolisso and Robben are injured and will not play in this game. After a shocking loss against Liverpool, coach Kovac had to do everything to keep his players spirits up and get them ready for this game because Bayern just taken over the top in the standings but only because of better goal differential and they can’t afford to lose any points here.
Mainz has accomplished their goal for this season and are safe outside relegation zone on 13thplace with 8 wins, 6 draws and 11 losses and 25 points. Mainz has only 1 win in their last 6 matches and were able to score only 5 goals during that stretch. Mateta leads Mainz with 7 goals while Brosinski has 5 assists. Mainz’s biggest problem is keeping the ball out of their net and have conceded 39 goals thus far in the season and are not showing any signs of improving that anytime soon. Mwene, Adler, Berggreen, Holtmann and Abass are all injured and will not play in this game. Mainz has a decent team with young coach and there is no pressure on them to be any higher in the standings and their goal of staying in Bundesliga next season is pretty much accomplished.
Bayern needs this win to stay ahead of Borussia and to get back on the winning track and because of that I’m not giving a lot of chances to Mainz in this matchup.
