Bayern is opening the new season of German Bundesliga at home against Hertha BSC.

Bayern is the best team in Germany and it has been for years. With a lot of passes and high ball possession Bayern is dominant against most of the teams in Germany and Europe. In the preseason period, Bayern has played 7 games and has won 4 games while losing 3 games against Tottenham, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund in German Super Cup. In their last game against Energie Cottbus in DFB Pokal, Bayern was a much better team with 81% of ball possession, 27 shots in total, 9 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks and high 90% of correct passes. Bayern has won this match 1-3 with goals from Lewandowski, Coman, and Goretzka and are now ready for the season opener on Friday. There are few important players like Hummels, Ribery, Robben, Rodriguez, and Rafinha that have left Bayern this summer and only two confirmed incoming transfers in Hernandez and Pavard for 115 million euros combined. Some reports are that is only a matter of an hour before Ivan Perisic puts his signature on the contract with Bayern and reports of Bayern going all-in on Barcelona's Coutinho and Real Madrid's Gareth Bale after deciding not to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City after his ACL Injury 2 weeks ago. Bayern has a great squad with young but experienced defense and the best offense lead by Lewandowski and Muller and Goretzka and now Ivan Perisic. Javi Martinez is the only injured player in Bayern's squad so coach Kovac will have sweet worries who to put in the starting lineup. Bayern has won the Bundesliga title with 2 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund in an atomic finish of the season. This season I expect more or less the same development in Bundesliga because Dortmund is the only team that can compete with Bayern and even though the season is long, I'm expecting Bayern at the top.

Hertha ended up in 11th place in Bundesliga last season after a terrible start of the season. In the preseason, Hertha did well with 8 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. In their last game in DFB Pokal against Eichstatt, Hertha had a great game with 75% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 89% of correct passes and has easily won this match 1-5. Hertha was pretty active on the market this summer with 8 departures and 10 arrivals. Most notable arrival is Dodi Lukebakio who arrived from Watford for 20 million euros. Hertha also fired their former coach Dadai and signed Ante Covic in July of this year and the progress is visible right away. Players have responded well on the demands from the new coach and the recent results are proof of that. Julian Albrecht is the only injured player in Hertha's squad and will miss the season opener. Hertha's goal for this season is to try and get back to the top 6 and to get qualified for European competition for season 2020/21. Hertha has a lot of young players with a lot of potential in their squad mixed with experienced players like Ibisevic, Skjelbred, and Boyata. Hertha was struggling on both ends last season but since the arrival of the new coach, Hertha has shown us that they are capable of scoring goals on one end and defending on the other hand and have a reason to be optimistic as they go into this season.

Bayern and Hearth have played 41 matches since 1997 with Bayern winning 26 games, Hertha winning 5 games while 10 games ended up in a draw. Bayern had a slow start last season but they managed to win in the end and after losing the German Supercup to Borussia Dortmund last week, I'm sure that Bayern wants to start Bundesliga with a nice and easy victory.
