We have some midweek MLS action on the soccer pitch as FC Dallas hosts Atlanta United from the Toyota Stadium.
FC Dallas comes into this match with points in eight of their last nine games following a 1-0 victory over Minnesota United in their last match. The match was scoreless at halftime before Roland Lamah gave FC Dallas the eventual game winning goal in the 59th minute. Dallas were out possessed by Minnesota 53%-47% and outshot 15-8 and 5-4 in regards to shots on target. Lamah leads FC Dallas with a total of 7 goals and 4 assists this season.
Atlanta United on the other hand will look to keep their unbeaten run in league play going which currently sits at six games following a 4-0 triumph over Orlando City in their last outing. Josef Martinez gave Atlanta the lead just 3 minutes into the match and it stayed at 1-0 until the 55th minute when Atlanta struck three times in 23 minutes including a brace from Miguel Almiron sandwiching a goal from Ezequiel Barco just two minutes after Almiron’s first marker. Atlanta out possessed Orlando 61%-39% and outshot Orlando City 15-13 and 6-4 in terms of shots on target. Martinez is not only Atlanta’s leader but he also leads all of MLS with 15 goals this season while Almiron leads Atlanta with 7 assists this season.
The lone all-time meeting between these two sides ended with a 3-0 Atlanta victory last September.
I’m pegging this as the game of the night on Wednesday as this matchup could go either way and could see lots of up and down action. However, with that said, we are getting a great price with Atlanta but I still see Dallas doing enough to keep this one close, so much so that I’m going to predict a full time draw as my pick in this match. Braver punters may want to try chasing the final score line of 2-2.
