We have some MLS action from Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on Saturday, as FC Dallas host LAFC.
FC Dallas will look to extend their current unbeaten run which right now sits at 5 games following a 3-2 victory over LA Galaxy in their last outing. FC Dallas jumped out to a 3-0 lead, with goals from Ryan Hollingshead, Cristian Colman and Carlos Gruezo in the 33rd, 40th and 66th minutes respectively. Colman saw an early exit in the 80th minute however, after being shown a straight red card after getting in an altercation with Ciani from LA. Dallas was held to just 46% possession while being outshot 21-14 in the win. Max Urruti leads FC Dallas with 6 goals on 28 shots and 15 shots on target this season, while Mauro Diaz is the Hoops’ leader in assists with 5 helpers this season.
LAFC will be looking to get back onto the winning side after going winless in their last 3 games, including a 1-1 draw with DC United in their last outing. Diego Rossi gave LAFC the lead 39 minutes into the game and LAFC was so close to getting the win before Darren Mattocks equalized for DC in the 84th minute, resulting in the stalemate. One big reason for the draw was probably the 42% possession after the sending off of Dejan Jakovic just before halftime after a bad foul. Rossi’s 5 goals this season are second only to fellow forward Carlos Vela who has 7. Rossi is tied for the team lead with Marcos Arena with 4 assists this season, while Vela leads LAFC with 33 shots.
The lone meeting between these two teams resulted in a 1-1 draw in May, however it’s worth noting that four of each team’s last five games have seen both teams end up on the scoresheet.
The draw is tempting considering it’s been a common theme between both teams respectively this season. However, FC Dallas s getting a solid price for being in much better form so I’ll side with the Hoops to get the job done at home here.
