FC Dallas and Montreal Impact meet Saturday in MLS soccer action at the Toyota Stadium.
FC Dallas heads into this match winning each of its last four games and making a case as the best team in the Western Conference. FC Dallas is getting the job done with a balanced attack that’s scored 22 goals in 13 matches and has allowed the fewest goals within its conference. FC Dallas has just one loss on the season overall and is going to continue chipping away in the standings if that defense holds up. FC Dallas is also 4-0-4 at home this season, making them just one of five teams left in the MLS that hasn’t lost a home yet. Roland Lamah leads Dallas with six goals, Mauro Diaz has eight assists and Maxi Urruti as 42 shots.
Montreal Impact snapped a four-match losing streak with a win over Houston Dynamo, which kept them from falling to dead last in the Eastern Conference. However, the Montreal Impact are still la brutal defensive team that’s allowed 29 goals in 14 matches and has a goal differential of -14, which is easily the worst in all of the MLS. It was a really impressive victory for Montreal and one that should inspire confidence moving forward, but let’s pump the breaks before looking to back this team moving forward. Montreal Impact are extremely outclassed against most teams in this league. Ignacio Piatti leads Montreal with five goals, Samuel Piette has three assists and Saphir Taïder has 34 shots.
FC Dallas is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings against Montreal Impact, which includes a 2-1 win last July. Montreal’s only win over Dallas during that span was in May of 2015. Each of the last four matches between these clubs produced at least two goals.
The juice isn’t sexy to lay, but this is easily the most lopsided match on Saturday’s card. FC Dallas is arguably the most balanced team in the MLS so far this season and hasn’t lost at home yet. Montreal Impact beat Houston, but this club showed nothing on either side before that match and gets beat up defensively every time it takes the field. I highly doubt the Montreal Impact put together another solid performance in back-to-back matches.
FC Dallas should have a field day in this contest.
