FC Dallas and Portland Timbers clash late Wednesday night at the Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas could use a strong home win after losing their last three matches. FC Dallas has been outscored 0-8 in its last three matches and has now been outscored 15-18 this season overall. The good news for FC Dallas is that it’s still the fourth best team in the West and has six players with at least 14 shot attempts. Michael Barrios leads Dallas with four goals, Mauro Diaz has four assists and Maximiliano Urruti has 34 shots. Defensively, Chris Seitz has come away with 21 saves on 30 shots. FC Dallas has earned points in 10 straight home games.

The Portland Timbers look to stay on their hot streak after earning points in three of their last four matches. The Timbers have allowed 18 goals, which is the most in the West, but Portland has allowed no more than two goals in each of its last four matches. Offensively, the Portland Timbers have five players with at least 12 shot attempts. Fanendo Adi leads Portland with seven goals, Diego Valeri has three assists and Lucas Melano has 14 shots. Defensively, Adam Kwarasey has come away with 19 saves on 31 shots. The Portland Timbers have earned points in five of their last eight road matches.

The last five meetings between these teams have been split down the middle with a 2-2-1 record both ways. Dallas won the most recent match a month ago, 3-1, and Portland’s two wins came in 2015. Each of the last five meetings between Portland and Dallas have produced at least four goals scored.

FC Dallas is a better team than what it’s shown as of late, and I expect a breakthrough performance on its home field after being held scoreless for a while. After all, Dallas did handle Portland fairly easily back in April.

Expect a little bit of the same here with the match being played at Toyota Stadium.
