With a squad of superstars Fenerbahce were supposed to take the Champions League by storm, knocked out of the competition by Shakhtar Donetsk the turkish side will have to make do with a place in the Europa League if they can finish off the tie against greek side Atromitos. One of the big signings of the summer was Robin Van Persie moving from Manchester United to Fenerbahce and the dutch striker scored the winner in the first leg in Greece he followed that up with another goal at the weekend. Van Persie is a lethal striker and he looks to be back to his very best as he regains fitness. If Fenerbahce can keep Van Persie, Nani and Diego on the field for the entire season they are going to win alot of games.
Atromitos though did frustrate Fenerbahce in the first leg for long periods and ultimately only came undone in the last minute of the game. With a number of south american players strewn throughout the squad this is a tough team to beat and they know how to defend, The tactics in the first leg were spot on and they were unlucky to lose the game. Marcelino, Godoy and Napoleoni will be the key players for Atromitos and they will bring the game to Fenerbahce as they know they must score or they will be going out.
Tough spot here for the Greek side, I think they fact they must attack will open them up to the pace of the counter attack and Fenerbahce has a serious pace on teh wings and I think that they will exploit any wreckless attacking by the Greek side. I'm going to take Fenerbahce to cover the handicap as I think Robin Van Persie and co finally start firing here and get themselves a couple of goals.
