German Bundesliga: Best Bets – Round 19 – Odds, Predictions, and Picks
Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 11:54 AM (Germany)
The Bundesliga returned from the winter break last week in thrilling fashion. Dortmund, Bayern and Leverkusen each scored over 3.5 goals, while Leipzig scored three goals for a ninth straight top-flight game. I’ve included both Dortmund and Leverkusen in this week’s bets, while Freiburg should cruise past struggling Paderborn.
Here are the best bets for Round 19 of the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign.
Borussia Dortmund vs. FC Koln – 1/24/20
Dortmund have been scoring goals for fun this season, but it also seems they’ve forgotten how to defend. Lucien Favre’s side have netted 46 goals in 18 league games this term, but they’ve conceded 27 – the most of any team in the top seven. However, Koln come into this game on the back of four straight wins – a run that has seen them climb to thirteenth in the table. Dortmund thrashed Augsburg 5-3 in the previous round, while Koln beat Wolfsburg 3-1. Given their recent goalscoring records, I’m pretty sure both teams will score on Friday.
Pick: Both Teams to Score – 1.60
SC Freiburg vs. Paderborn – 1/25/20
Freiburg remain in the hunt for a top-six finish after overcoming Mainz last time out. This season’s surprise package are currently seventh – two points behind sixth-place Leverkusen. By contrast, Paderborn are rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table having won just three league games in 2019/20. Paderborn are the bookies’ clear favorites for relegation this season, while Freiburg claimed a 3-1 victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign. For that reason, odds of 1.73 for a Freiburg win are very attractive here.
Pick: SC Freiburg to Win – 1.73
Bayer Leverkusen vs. Fortuna Dusseldorf – 1/26/20
Bayer finished 2019 by beating Mainz and returned from the winter break with a thumping 4-1 win over Paderborn. This means Leverkusen have won four of their last six top-flight matches. Conversely, Fortuna were beaten 1-0 by relegation rivals Werder Bremen last time out and have now lost 11 of their 18 league games this term. Dusseldorf find themselves second from bottom, so Leverkusen will be confident of claiming all three points on Sunday. The home win is at 1.36. But if you back Bayer to win both halves, you can get odds of 2.00.
Pick: Bayer Leverkusen to Win Half Time/Full Time – 2.00
