German Bundesliga: Best Bets – Round 20 – Odds, Predictions, and Picks
Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:37 PM (Germany)
Can Paderborn claim a vital win against out-of-form Wolfsburg? Will Dortmund score and concede once again? Who will come out on top when Hertha host Schalke? Here are this week’s best bets from the German top-flight.
Hertha Berlin vs. Schalke 04 – 1/31/20
Following the winter break, Hertha were beaten 4-0 by Bayern Munich. However, the club from the capital bounced back to beat Wolfsburg 2-1. On the other hand, Schalke kicked off the second half of the season with an impressive 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, but a 5-0 defeat to Bayern last time out saw the club’s top-four hopes take a big blow. Schalke haven’t been scoring many goals this season, while Hertha are one of the Bundesliga’s lowest scoring sides this term. For that reason, under 2.5 goals seems like the best bet for this matchup.
Pick: Under 2.5 Goals – 1.85
Borussia Dortmund vs. Union Berlin – 2/1/20
Dortmund’s last two games have produced a total of 16 goals. Lucien Favre’s side beat Augsburg 5-3 before thrashing FC Koln 5-1 in their previous game. Back-to-back victories have seen Dortmund cement fourth place in the table – four points behind league leaders RB Leipzig. Union are eleventh and ended a run of three straight defeats with a win last time out. Only Bayern have scored more goals than Dortmund in the division, but eight teams have a better defensive record. Dortmund have been scoring goals for fun of late, but their defending has been questionable. Both teams to score makes sense here.
Pick: Both Teams to Score – 1.80
Paderborn vs. Wolfsburg – 2/2/20
The bookies have made Wolfsburg the favorite to win this game at 1.85, but I’m backing Paderborn to grab a rare victory. Paderborn are now off the bottom of the table thanks to two wins in their last three games. They may have just four victories to their name this season, but Wolfsburg only have six. Wolfsburg have lost their last three league games and have only won one of their previous seven. Paderborn’s home advantage is likely to play a big role in this tie, so I can see Steffen Baumgart’s side snatching all three points.
Pick: Paderborn to Win – 3.80
