The third round of the German cup takes place this week with eight fixtures being played across Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ve picked out three matchups that present us with some tasty betting opportunities, including a potentially lucrative win at 7.00.
Let’s check out the best bets for round three of the DFB-Pokal 2019/20.
Eintracht Frankfurt vs. RB Leipzig – 2/4/20
This is one of four all-Bundesliga ties taking place in the third round and both sides have very different ambitions in the league this season. While Frankfurt will be merely hoping to avoid relegation come the end of the campaign, Leipzig are going for the title. RB are second in the table – one point behind league leaders Bayern Munich. On the other hand, Eintracht are eight points clear of the bottom three. Both managers are likely to make plenty of changes for this matchup, but Leipzig will still have the power to beat Frankfurt and reach the quarter-finals.
Pick: RB Leipzig to Win – 1.83
Werder Bremen vs. Borussia Dortmund – 2/4/20
Two more top-flight sides go head-to-head on Tuesday as Werder welcome Dortmund to the Weserstadion. Bremen are currently sixteenth in the Bundesliga standings after losing four of their previous five league games, while Dortmund are third following three straight wins. However, Dortmund’s defense has been leaking goals. Lucien Favre’s side have conceded the most goals of all the top six teams in the Bundesliga, so I can see both teams scoring on Tuesday. Favre is expected to rest a number of key players, enhancing Bremen’s chances of getting on the scoresheet.
Pick: Both Teams to Score – 1.50
Bayer Leverkusen vs. VfB Stuttgart – 2/5/20
There are bound to be one or two unexpected victories in round three, and I think Stuttgart are more than capable of upsetting the odds against Leverkusen. Bayer are the clear favorites to win this clash, but Stuttgart will be confident of reaching the quarter-finals. The top-flight side come into this game on the back of a disappointing defeat to Hoffenheim, while Stuttgart are unbeaten in their last eight games. The second-tier outfit are pushing for promotion and currently find themselves second in the 2. Bundesliga table. Odds of 7.00 are certainly worth a shot.
Pick: VfB Stuttgart to Win – 7.00
