Germany is welcoming the Netherlands in round 5 Euro Cup qualification in group C.
Germany is a young team with some really good young players like Werner, Havertz, Gnarby, Brandt, Goretzka, Kimmich, Sule and Tah who are all some of the main players in their clubs. Germany is playing fantastic soccer with a lot of short, fast passes and a lot of created goal chances. In their last match against Estonia, Germany was outstanding with 81% of ball possession, 17 shots on goal, 11 corner kicks, 93% of correct passes and 8 scored goals. Even though we are talking about Estonia here, a team that is at the bottom of European soccer, what Germany did in that game is quite impressive. After a debacle in Russia last year, Germany has decided to rebuild their team, retire some of the older experienced players and give more chances to younger players who are the future of this team. As we can see from Germany's results, rebuild paid off. In their last three games, Germany has scored 13 goals while conceding only 2. In this group C, Germany is 2nd at the moment with 9 points and a game less than Northern Ireland who is at the top with 12 points. Germany has no injured or suspended players so coach Low will need to make some hard decisions who to put in the starting lineup and who to bench. Germany will most likely win this group and is one of the best offensive teams in the world, and once their defense settles and gets a bit more consistency, Germany will be among 5 top favorites to win Euro Cup next year.
Netherlands is a solid young team who just needs a little bit more experience to be one of the top teams in Europe. With the arrival of Ronald Koeman to the helm of this team, Netherlands has started to play fantastic soccer and has started to resemble the team from the Netherlands' glory days. In their last game against Portugal, Netherlands was decent with 57% of ball possession but had only 1 shot on goal, 4 corner kicks and 86% of correct passes. In that game, Netherlands was forced to defend more than they attacked and has lost this match 1-0. Netherlands in 3rd in the standings in this group C with 3 points and 2 games less then Northern Ireland and still has 6 more games to catch up and eventually get qualified to Euro Cup next year. Frenkie de Jong, De Light, Bergwijn, Donny van de Beek are some of the best young players in the world but this team is led by Virgil van Dijk, the best defender in the world right now. Netherlands has no injured players so coach Koeman will have his best players at his disposal in this must-win game for them. Netherlands is playing nice, enjoyable and fast soccer and after years of suffering, fans are finally happy and are enjoying with their national team.
Germany and Netherlands have played 3 times recently with each game going over 2.5 goals and Netherlands winning one, Germany one while one game ended up in a draw. Both of these teams are offensive forces that are hard to contain, and since Netherlands needs to win here, I expect them to attack from the start. I will pick something on goals here.
