Germany vs Slovakia 06/26/2016 EURO 2016 Preview, Odds and Predictions

The World Champions Germany are looking to add a European title to their trophy cabinet. The Germans have been somewhat underwhelming thus far but still managed to win their group as wins over Northern Ireland and the Ukraine with a draw against Poland was enough to get top spot. Toni Kroos has been pulling the strings for Germany and Thomas Muller , Mario Goetze and Mario Gomes have been the key men up front but without a doubt the attacking trio have missed a lot of chances so far. Defensively Germany look very solid with Neur behind Hummels and Boateng. Germany though struggled to break down Poland and were susceptible to the break with Poland having the better chances in that game. Germany are strong with a squad very capable of winning the lot but Slovakia will not roll over and this one could be a cat and mouse game.

Slovakia themselves recovers from an opening game loss to Wales to beat Russia and take a point off England. Slovakia's strength in depth is questionable but their squad will all give 100%. Hamsik is the star man, the Napolitano senter forward proving to be the match winner against Russia and the architect of most of Slovakia's good attacking play. Martin Skertrl has led by example at the back the former Liverpool defender throwing his body in front of everything. While Slovakia have done well thus far it's tough to see them getting many chances against this German team.

It's tough to read how good or bad Germany are they should have beaten Northern Ireland much easier than they did but they struggled the entire game to finish the chances. Defensively they gave up a couple of chances on the counter and Slovakia have some players who can break at pace. I think this one though is still heavily weighted in Germany's favour and with Ozil, Gomes, Goetze and Muller I just think they are bound to click at some stage. I am going to take Germany -1 here as I think the Germans will make sure of this one before a star studded Quarter Final.
