Girona is set to host Barcelona in round 21 of Spanish LaLiga.

Girona is a team that is in really bad form at the moment with home record of 2 wins, 5 draws and 3 losses. Girona hasn’t won in any of the last 9 matches and are fighting for their lives with only 5 points above the relegation zone. Girona has some really good players like Doumbia, Portu and Stuani, who score 12 goals in 17 matches, but that doesn’t mean anything if they can’t keep the ball out of their own net. Planas, Roberts, Mojica, and Benitez are all injured and will not play in this game. Interesting thing is that Girona is playing better soccer away from home and if they want to stay in the Spanish top league they will need to change some things around and start winning some home games.

Barcelona was playing midweek match against Sevilla in Copa del Rey and lost. Messi, Suarez, Busquets were all being rested to play this match 100% ready because Atletico Madrid is breathing down their neck on standings. Barcelona has incredible amount of offensive firepower in Suarez, Coutinho, Dembele, but there is only one Messi. Lionel Messi scored 18 goals in 18 matches, and added 10 assists to his already great stats. Barcelona is playing soccer with high possession and high offensive pressure which allows them to control space and with that flow and speed of the game. Rafinha, Umtiti and Dembele are injured and will not play this game.

Head to head, this two teams have played 5 games and Barcelona won all but one which ended in a draw. All of these matches produced at least 3 goals. I’m expecting Barcelona to start with the strongest lineup which will give them the edge over average Girona team.

Barcelona to win and over 3.5 combined goals scored +160

Being from Croatia I was raised with soccer all around me and I loved to watch and play soccer ever since i was little kid, especially after Croatia won third place in 1998 World Cup in France. I watch and follow soccer on a daily basis and to get the oppurtunity to write about it is amazing.
